Polyunsaturated Oils: Poison, Take at Your Own Risk

Is there really anything good to say about Omega 6 high Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFA's) When we  eat these kind of oils they need to be eaten only in the whole food form, like nuts and seeds they came in. All polyunsaturated oils are highly unstable outside of their natural food containers and go rancid very easily. They cannot last outside of their nut or seed for longer than a few hours before going rancid.  Even whole nuts, grains & seeds go rancid fairly quickly and should be … [Read more...]

Is Gluten Only in Wheat? Watch this Video. Its Well Worth It.

This video really helped me to understand why all grains are a problem.  I didn't actually really get it before and thought what's wrong with buckwheat?  Or millet?  Why do I still get sick eating these grains they don't have gluten do they? Well yes they do - and they can harm the gut wall just like wheat can. … [Read more...]

Am I a Victim Because I Can’t Eat Wheat, Sugar and Lots of Carbs?

Can't we ever eat like a 'normal person' again and be healthy? "Why can't I just eat  like a normal person?"  is a frequent cry I hear from my fellow sufferers. Eating like a 'normal person' in this era of such a high carbohydrate and  processed diet cannot be sustained by most people without they also, sooner or later, succumbing to disease.   Perhaps  to want to eat 'normally' is like saying why can't I smoke and stay healthy? It has become quite obvious to me that when I mention that … [Read more...]

Why Red Cabbage Sauerkraut is SO good! (plus a recipe)

There are many, many good reasons for eating home made red cabbage sauerkraut! Sauerkraut is a natural probiotic which helps the gut bacteria to become healthy. Sauerkraut  aids the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach to increase digestion Sauerkraut is easy to digest as the cellulose has been broken down so bad bacteria in the gut don't get to use it as food Sauerkraut naturally contains vitamin K2 from the natural bacteria created in the process of making … [Read more...]

Do We Want to Truly Heal Just Yet?

My logical mind leaves the room Some people are just not ready to heal yet,  I know, in some moments, I'm still one of these people.  When tempted by foods I shouldn't eat I still occasionally become unconscious (the "me" that has logic and reasoning has left the room!) and I  tell myself I can eat those foods and when I do, I sabotage my healing. In the last 15 or so years I became aware to some extent that I was holding onto some pattern to remain sick,  but I just couldn't, for the life … [Read more...]

Are You a Live To Eat OR a Eat to Live Kind of Person?

Looking For A Different Passion Other Than Food? I have been a Live to Eat (and drink)  kind of person... ... and changing over to a Eat to Live person has been an interesting... and challenging experience. I realised I actually needed to find my passion to fill my need for meaning instead of using food for that purpose. No more thinking constantly of what treat to make or to buy or looking in the fridge constantly to see if something have magically appeared that takes my fancy as a … [Read more...]

Italian Odyssey- Part 2

Jeepers have I been having some adventures here in Italy and now the UK. I now really know how hard it is to eat travelling if you can't afford to eat at a restaurant and can't cook for yourself. I have just visited my nephew in London and his girlfriend, Lili.   They live what is probably a typical London life in the sense they don't cook.  They eat only organic foods but the organic foods they tend to mostly eat are organic snack foods. They aren't vegetarian but I guess for them meat is … [Read more...]

Salt, The Much Maligned Substance That is Essential To Our Health

On an Alkaline Paleo Diet We  Need More Salt Because: Eating a high carbohydrate diet the kidneys will hold onto too much salt.  When we restrict carbohydrates our kidneys release the salt which takes water with it. Such is the natriuretic (excretion of large amounts of sodium in the urine) effect of low carbohydrate eating that we have to add salt to our diet to ensure we don’t get dehydrated because of the salt and fluid loss.  The great thing about the Alkaline Paleo program is that … [Read more...]
